Carl Anthony Payne II was born on May 24, 1969 in North Trenton, Trenton, New Jersey. He attended school at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art as well as Performing Arts, New York and Howard University, Washington DC.

Payne's first bit part was in Berry Gordy's "The Last Dragon" as the kid in the coffee shop. From there, he starred in The Cosby Show as Theo's best friend, Walter "Cockroach" Bradley. Unfortunatly, Payne was released from The Cosby Show because he refused to get his hair cut inssisted by Mr. Cosby himself. He still remains very close to Malcolm Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable.

Being a veteran of a very professional children theater scene, Payne was able smotthly adapt to take on young adult roles. To this day he has appeared in over 30 commercials and has been a guest star and many dramatic series.

In 1992 he married Melika, who happens to share a son with Bobby Brown, making Payne a stepfather. Payne also has two other sons with Melika. This same year he accepted a role as Cole Brown, an airheaded dim-witted but good hearted man. Cole still lived at home with his mom and dated Big Shirley, a security guard.

To this day, Payne is still acting and appearing in a very popular drama series, The Evidence.
