Living Single
Living Single was a sitcom that focused on six African-American close friends living in a Brooklyn apartment. The show portrayed the personal and professional sides of each character and the relationship with each other.
Living Single premiered on Sunday, August 29, 1993 on FOX at 8:30pm. In the pilot episode, Judging By The Cover, we were introduced to the main characters; Khadijah James (Queen Latifah), Regine Hunter (Kim Fields), Maxine Shaw (Erika Alexander), Synclaire James (Kim Coles), Overton Jones (John Henton), Kyle Barker (T.C. Carson).
In Depth Character Descriptions
Khadijah James - is the editor of a urban monthly magazine called Flavor. Ms James shares an apartment with her ditzy cousin Synclaire, who is also Khadijah's receptionist and her long time friend Regine Hunter. Khadijah is very independent and strong willed.
Regine Hunter - is obsessed with image and gossip. She buys boutiques and wigs! Regine lives with Khadijah and Synclaire.
Maxine Shaw - Khadijah's best friend, is a very powerful attorney and very quick witted with her snide remarks. She stops by Khadijah's apartment almost everyday to drop off her exotic views and to raid the refrigerator. Maxine is always arguing with Kyle but that doesnt stop the attraction they have for each other.
Synclaire James - is a sweetheart but very gullible. She wants to be an actress but is settling with being Khadijah's receptionist at the magazine, Flavor. Synclaire shares an apartment with Khadijah and Regine. Synclaire and Overton are a couple who eventually get married.
Overton Jones - lives upstairs from the girls and is a handyman who loves Synclaire. He is very friendly.
Kyle Barker - a funds manager who always argues with Maxine, only to cover his attraction to her.
