She Hate Me
From Harpo's Juke Joint
She Hate Me is a movie directed by Spike Lee, released on July 30, 2004 to lukewarm reviews. The movie stars Anthony Mackie, Kerry Washington, Dania Ramirez, Jim Brown John Tuturro and Woody Harrelson among others. Ossie Davis made his last movie appearance in She Hate Me before passing away in February of 2005.
Mackie plays John Henry “Jack” Armstrong, a self-assured, rising young exec at a pharmaceutical company who falls on hard times after playing the role of a whistleblower when his place of employment comes under investigation.
He asks for advice from his diabetic father (Brown) who encourages his son to stand strong and get a good lawyer, which Jack does without hesitation. He also discovers that his assets were frozen by order of the company’s unscrupulous president Leland Powell (Harrelson), and that no company will hire him due to the malicious lies Powell has spread about him.
Enter Armstrong’s ex-fiancée Fatima Goodrich (Washington) and her lover Alex (Ramirez) who approach Jack with an unusual business proposition: 10 grand to impregnate both ladies, who desperately want to have a family of their own.
After successfully impregnating Fatima, more lesbians (18 in all) show up at Jack’s house and he becomes a human sperm bank, sexing all sorts of women, from marginal rapstress Evelyn (Paula Jai Parker) to an ex-women’s pro basketball player (real life former WNBA all-star Kym Hampton). While Armstrong encounters a moral dilemma about his way of making ends meet, the heat gets turned up by the Feds in the case against his former employer, and Armstrong is arrested and charged with numerous offenses, based mainly off a connection he made with the daughter of a mob boss (Tuturro).
Jack is summoned to Capitol Hill to testify about his involvement in the scandal which has now made national headlines. He quickly gives the committee what they want; a smoking gun of a scientist’s journal who commits suicide in the beginning of the film. The scientist goes into detail about the discrepancies of the company’s AIDS vaccine.
Armstrong is exonerated and Leland Powell gets arrested. Jack, Fatima, and Alex began a polyamorous relationship and begin raising their two boys as the movie ends.
